Really shit or bust for me... been some excellent stuff along with some proper tripe... the Arnie debacle 100% fucked us over... but overall it's miles better than Moyes and that cunt Allardyce..

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
All in all, very good transfer window last summer. Also worth pointing out that it’s one of the only seasons I can remember where we haven’t had to panic buy a few shit players in the January window. Testament to the stronger squad we have now.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
He’s been excellent and we could easily have been in a relegation scrap with this season’s injuries. His buying in the summer was nothing short of brilliant, especially the two centre backs.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
When was the last time we were not a Jekyll and Hyde team? He was never going to solve all of our problems in a season. If we have similar improvement next season, we'll be close to a sixth place finish.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
The Jekyll and Hyde nature of our performances has been the most frustrating for me. Never knowing what team performance is coming etc.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
We’ve turned out some fantastic performances, frustratingly not often enough.

We’ve turned out some right tripe as well.

Hopefully 3 or 4 good additions and we’ll be far more consistent.

Top bloke!
none of this l love West ham stuff with a scarf around his neck etc bull shit just a proper top manager and even with all his experiences trying to manager a little spoilt shit like Marko downing tools maybe took him by surprise.

Also always good to listen too and very honest after every game along side always smartly dressed .

Adds lots to the club.

'we've been fantastic'

FMOB... That's stretching it!

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
Given how awful we were last year, the turnover in the off season, and the injury record this year; we've been fantastic, plain and simple for me. We're absolutely going in the right direction. The football has been entertaining. What's the argument against keeping him? serious question.

eusebiovic 7:05 Sun May 5
Re: Manuel Pellegrini
I think he is old and wise enough to have realized that he is better off with a few young and impressionable players from the U 23 in the squad who are willing to listen and learn thus freeing up some funds for 3 or 4 very good players.

There is a lot of chaff in the squad that he knows he can't rely upon. Even for a cup game against a team bottom of league one.

Don't worry...MP hasn't forgotten that.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
Yesterday showed real promising signs for next season

Marko getting back to his old form
Fredericks making his claim for RB
Wilshire looked lively when he came on (yet another assist)
Some great football to watch

And on top of all that, we managed to win convincingly without 2 of our best players this season.

Just imagine if yarmolenko, Rice and Anderson was all available yesterday too.

100% behind pellegrini and I’m convinced next season will be much stronger pending we don’t get a silly long injury list once again

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
I'm not really a stats type and I struggle to remember who we played and what the score was a couple of weeks after a game but I do know that I have watched us play some lovely expansive football at times this season.

After YEARS of negative tactics and defensive substitutions it's been refreshing to see a manager willing to take a chance and put on another attacking player for a defensive one.

It doesn't always work out and there have been some terrible performances but I am very pleased that we have MP as our manager.

Now we need Sullivan and co to put their hands in their skys and give us players who deserve 60,000 loyal supporters watching them at every home game. MP is absolutely fine.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
The problem with clubs like ours who are in the mid-table aspiring to better situation is that it is very difficult to sign players who play consistently well. These players will almost always find their way into the champions league clubs...the odd exception will fall through the net but then end up playing for them when proving themselves for a club in the chasing pack.

I do think recruitment could be better...taking a chance on players with appalling injury records thinking they will suddenly play 50 games a season is fools gold and needs to stop.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
At the start of the season a 50+ points total and a good cup run was what I hoped for. European football after the last two relegation battles seemed more than unlikely.

Given the Arnie situation, a negative swing of appalling decisions going against us, and months of the season with up to 10 players injured, I think we have done well enough.

Bombing out of the FA cup to the Wombles is obviously the biggest wounder of the season. Other than that, we have improved our style of play in what hopefully is a transitional season that Pellegrini can continue to build on.

El Scorchio 3:43 Sun May 5
Re: Manuel Pellegrini
Oh yes. The cup. The one big black mark.

Sure, he picked a weakened side, but it was still one that should have comfortably won that game. That one is on the shoulders of the players on the field for me. He made changes from the bench that also should have been enough to win the game even from 3-0 down or whatever it was.

Motivation is an issue. Always has been. The players get complacent, it seems, and it takes their backs to be against the wall sometimes to perform. This is the thing I feel he can sort- with his track record. Biggest hope for next season is improvement in that area. Some games they looked like they were out for a stroll and that run of games conceding early goals to shit opposition needs to not happen again.

he spent that little he had well, didn't he. what an inspired use of ten million. just imagine what we'd have done with ten hugills

Re: Manuel Pellegrini
We should be doing better than last season especially taking into consideration that Moyes took over a sinking ship and then was given little to spend in the mid season window.

Then don’t forget to mention our record close season expenditure on players. I think it will transpire that the team will scrape into the acceptable turnout for now category but next season will be the crunch for Pellegrini whether we bring players in or not. Next Sunday if we lose and Palace win we finish below them in 12th place. Food for thought innit?

El Scorchio 3:37 Sun May 5
Re: Manuel Pellegrini
Chopping and changing manager will not help.

He’s good, and probably actually has the clout to get money out of the owners.

The squad, despite last summers investment still has areas of glaring need. Injuries have really hurt us again along with Arnie having his meltdown. I see a lot of improvement in how we are playing compared to before, and look how Rice and Diangana have come on. He also has Antonio looking like the player he once was and some good players to come back to proper fitness.

He deserves to be backed in the summer and given another season at the very least, in my opinion.

in terms of defending, our goals against is BETTER than last season
